A new species of Goniozus Foerster 1851 from southern Africa parasitizing sugar cane borer, Elcana saccharina Walker, and taxonomic notes on species of the genus in Africa (Hymenoptera: Bethylidae; Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)

Goniozus natalensis sp. nov. is descriptionbed from material taken in the Republic of South Africa (Natal). The bethylid is a primary external parasite of the sugarcane borer Eldana saccharina Walker on Cyperus papyrus Linnaeus. Taxonomic affinities of the new species are discussed and African species currently assigned to Goniozus are considered.
