The elastic wave-equation which is established for ideal media could not be used to describe the behaviors of seismic waves in viscous elastic media. The conventional scalar wave-equation migration compensates only for geometrical spreading, and gives no consideration to the Q-caused intrinsic energy dispersion and attenuation in viscous elastic media. In order to compensate for the dispersion and attenuation of seismic energy, thus to improve the quality of imaging, the viscous acoustic wave migration using explicit wave filed extrapolation in frequency-space domain is proposed in this paper. The computation efficiency and precision are greatly improved by using the combination of nonlinear and linear equation optimal solutions, and by using the McClellan transform and Chebychev recursive filter. The methodwas applied to syntheticand real data. Compared with conventional migration results, the quality of imaging with our method was improved significantly.
