Relationship of Annexin A2 and osteopontin expression with biological behaviors of breast carcinoma

2013
Objective To investigate the expression of Annexin A2 and osteopontin (OPN) in breast carcinoma tissues and its relationship with breast carcinoma development. Methods The expression of Annexin A2 and OPN was examined by using immunohistochemical method in 50 cases of human breast carcinoma tissues and non-cancerous adjacent breast tissues (5 cm distance away from the margin of breast carcinoma). Results The overexpression rate of Annexin A2 was 82.00% in carcinoma tissues 82.00% while 36.00% in non-cancerous adjacent breast tissues. The overexpression of Annexin A2 was related to histology grade,TNM stage and lymph node metastasis of breast carcinoma (P < 0.05).The overexpression of OPN was high in carcinoma tissues (74.00%) while low in non-cancerous adjacent breast tissues (22.00%).There was a close correlation between the expression of OPN and TNM stage and lymph node metastasis in breast carcinoma (P < 0.05).Conclusion The overexpression of Annexin A2 and OPN could participate in the biological behaviors of breast carcinoma. Key words: Annexin A2 ;  Osteopontin;  Breast carcinoma
