Multimode optical fiber with relatively low intermodal dispersion

2015
The invention relates to a multimode optical fiber with relatively low intermodal dispersion. The multimode optical fiber comprises a core layer and a cladding, and is characterized in that the core layer comprises a central area and a peripheral area; the radius of the core layer is Ri; the central area is the radius area from 0 to rx; the peripheral area is the radius area from rx to R1; the refractive index of the central area is distributed according to the standard alpha power-exponent function; the distribution index number alpha is 1.9 to 2.2; part or all of the distribution curve value of the refractive index is smaller than the value of standard alpha power-exponent function; the intermodal dispersion of the optical fiber under a light source of which the wavelength is 850 nm or longer is smaller; not only can high-performance data transmission of a single light source of 850 nm be supported, but also the wavelength-division multiplexing technology of in a wavelength range of 850-950 nm can be supported, that is, the transmission capacity of the multimode optical fiber is further improved. Therefore, the meet of a network of which the data stream increase is rapid can be met, and the meaning on the application of the optical communication technique is important.
