Writing-aware data variable allocation on hybrid SRAM+NVM SPM: work-in-progress

Considering the hybrid SPM implemented by SRAM and NVM, this paper presents a data variable allocation approach based on the frequency of writing operations to minimize the writing operations on NVM. This approach can determine how to allocate data variables by comparing with the threshold value of writing frequency. The threshold value of writing frequency can be calculated by the number of writing operations of data variable and the probability of branch execution. According to the experimental results, the proposed approach can reduce the number of writing operations on NVM by 50.13% on average compared with the traditional approach.
