Methadone Maintenance Treatment and Social Productivity in a Suburban Patient Population

Summary Patient social productivity in a large (N = 226) suburban methadone programme was studied over a 52 month period, Most patients were productive on entry. Of those patients staying in treatment throughout the length of the study, 94 per cent were socially productive. After 36 months, in treatment, 74 per cent of those patients nonproductive at entry became productive.
