The method for separating and purifying proanthocyanidins

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separative purification method that separates and purifies proanthocyanidin at a high purity according to the polymerization degree without causing a problem of deterioration of operation environments due to a hydrophobic solvent or the like as is encountered in the case of normal phase liquid chromatography. SOLUTION: The separative purification method for obtaining the proanthocyanidin separatively according to the polymerization degree from a raw material containing a plurality of kinds of the proanthocyanidin having a different polymerization degree or a roughly-purified product thereof comprises separating and purifying the proanthocyanidin according to the polymerization degree from the raw material or the roughly-purified product thereof using reversed phase liquid chromatography with a stationary phase of silica gel chemically modified with a polyethylene glycol group.
