A study on overexpression and interaction of TRX and STAT-3 in hepatocellular carcinoma

2008
Objective To investigate the expression of TRX and STAT-3 in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and their relation tO clinicopathological features and explore the role and interaction of them. Methods The mRNA and protein expression 1evels of TRX and STAT-3 in 30 cases of HCC,corresponding paracarninoma tissues and normal tissues including part of sclerosis tissues were detected bv RT-PCR and Western blotting, respectively. Then the semiquantitative analysis results and clinicsl data were statistically analyzed. Results The different expression levels of TRX and STAT-3 in HCC,corresponding paracarninoma tissues and normsl tissues had statistical significance and relation to histological differentiation(P<0.05)but not to other clinical pathological features(P>0.05).There was a positive correlation between them in HCC.The results of mRNA and protein were(r=0.380,P=0.038)and(r=0.468,P=0.009),respectively(P<0.05).Conclusion There is overexpession of TRX and STAT-3 in HCC.The overexpession of them iS closely related with tumor histological differentiation. The interaction between TRX and STAT-3 both or alone may participate in the regulation of hepatocarcinogenesis, development and aggravation. Therefore,it offers a new way tO study hepatocarcinogenesis and development strategies. Key words: Carcinoma,hepatocellular; TRX; STAT-3
