Broadband Printed Quasi - Yagi Antenna with Simple Feeding Structure

2020
In this paper, a new configuration of broadband printed quasi-Yagi antenna (PQYA) with monopole elements has been proposed. The proposed monopole element PQYA has a measured impedance bandwidth (BW) of 47.6%, a flat gain of 3.6-4.1 dBi, and the maximum front-to-back (F/B) ratio of 22.7 dB. It has a compact size of $76 \times 86\mathbf{mm}^{2}$ and a simulated efficiency of 83%. The performance comparison of the proposed PQYA with the conventional dipole element PQYA is also presented. The dipole element PQYA designed for the same frequency band has measured impedance BW of 20.3%, increasing gain from 2.96-4.74 dBi, and the maximum F/B ratio of 20.6 dB. It has an overall size of $95\times 82\mathbf{mm}^{2}$ and a simulated efficiency of 79%. The novelty of proposed PQYA is, its simple MS line feed and flat gain with relatively small size in comparison with the dipole element PQYA having a large size, lower BW, and increasing gain.
