Atmospheric broadband infrared transmission related to meteorological events—first selected results from The German OPAQUE station

1980
Abstract The German OPAQUE station (Optical and IR Atmospheric Quantities in Europe) operating since Autumn 1976 in Southern Germany, is briefly described. As first results, time series of i.r. transmission in the 8–12 and 3–5 μm atmospheric window regions over a 500m range, interrelations between transmission and environmental parameters, and comparisons between measurements and calculations (lowtran) are given. Special meteorological conditions (fog, rain) are investigated.
