Detailed analysis of acidic compounds in Mayan gas oil and hydrotreated products

The present and future importance of heavy crude as a primary energy resource is widely recognized in spite of the current oversupply of crude oil. Along with coal and shale oil, heavy crudes and heavy ends of conventional crude produced by primary and enhanced oil recovery methods are considered important and dependable resources to meet their nation's long-term energy needs. Heavy crudes impose more severe requirements upon refining technology to produce end products meeting current specifications in terms of stability, compatibility, and corrosiveness. This study is based on the premise that knowledge of the problem components in the feedstocks, intermediate process streams, and products can aid in the development of efficient and economical means of producing higher quality products.
