La pandemia del COVID-19 y su impacto en el mercado laboral de Ecuador

The coronavirus has caused the deepest global recession in decades. Although the end result is still uncertain, due to the pandemic the vast majority of emerging markets and developing economies are contracted with lasting damage to labor productivity and potential output. The measures to contain this health crisis have impacted the labor market, reaching historically high levels in terms of the unemployment rate to date. The objective of this research is to assess to what extent the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the Ecuadorian labor market. The complete inductive method was applied, the tool used was a construct with 40 items on the Likert scale, applied to 211 Ecuadorian households; and with SPSS statistical software. Through Spearman's p (Rho) correlation coefficient, the hypotheses could be validated, showing a significant positive correlation between the main variables, with a level of (0.970). Regarding the first specific hypothesis, the impact between social protection and the labor market is verified, with a correlation of (0.952). In the second specific hypothesis, unemployment benefits impact the Ecuadorian labor market, with a positive correlation of (0.968). In the third specific hypothesis, it is evidenced that inequality impacts the labor market, with a significant correlation of (0.870). In the fourth specific hypothesis, it is evidenced that poverty impacts the labor market, with a positive correlation of (0.894)
