LAPAROSKOPİK KOLESİSTEKTOMİ YAPILAN HASTALARDA RASTLANTISAL SAFRA KESESİ KANSERLERİ; RETROSPEKTİF DEĞERLENDİRME

2016
OBJECTIVE: Gallbladder cancers are rapidly advancing aggressive malignant tumors with a bad prognosis. The aim of this study was to interprete our findings of the patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy were diagnosed as a gall-bladder cancer intraoperatively or postoperatively in our instutute, in the light of the data in the literature.MATERIAL AND METHODS: Methods: The records of the patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy between January 2011 and August 2014 were analysed retrospectively. The patients with a suspicion of malignancy and the ones with gall-bladder polyps were excluded. The data of the patients who had incidentally discovered gallbladder carcinoma were recorded and their clinical and demographic characteristics were analysed.RESULTS: Of the 2100 patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy, 1980 were included in the study. There were a total of 8 patients 7 females and 1 male with gallbladder carcinoma. The incidentally discovered cancer rate was 0.4%.CONCLUSION: Female gender and old age are risk factors for gallbladder cancer. Unlike the majority of gallbladder cancers, the incidentally discovered disease is caught in the early stage and has a good prognosis. The rates of incidentally discovered gallbladder cancer are reported to be between 0.5 and 2.85%. The findings of our study are coherent with the literature data
