Ultrastructural morphological changes of the nodose ganlion in experimental diabetic rat and changcs in the expression of bFGF
2011
Objective To explore the effects of basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) in diabetes neuropathy(DNP),and offer morphologic data for DNP.Methods The rats in all groups were injected with streptozotocin intraperitoneal(60 mg/kg).Rats with fasting blood glucose≥16.7mmol/L after 72 hours and maintained for 2 weeks were enrolled in DM.The ultrastructural changes of the nodose ganglion were observed by electron microscope, the expression of bFGF was examined by the immunohistochemical method. Results Ultrastructural study showed that the mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi were swollen. The mitochondria was dissolved and its crest was ruptured. The expression of bFGF in cytoplasm of the nodose ganglion in experimental diabetic rats was increased by compared with control group. Conclusion The ultrastructural changes of the nodose ganglion in experimental diabetic rats indicate that neurons are damaged during diabetes. The increasing expression of bFGF may be the response of resistance to the injury of the nerve cells.bFGF gene could effectively enhance recovery of the nerve cells in DNP.
