In some cases, compound I contains a given amount of pigment impurities which deterio- rate the quality of the preparation. In the present work we present the results of a determination of the solubility of I (S) in binary mixtures of ethanol with certain organic solvents, in order to find the optimal conditions for separating the pigment impurities from the antibiotic.
