Biomarkers in the selection of treatment for heart failure

A method for identifying a subject who is eligible for the administration of a medicament, said medicament being an aldosterone antagonist, comprising a) determining the amount of PlGF and sFlt-1 biomarkers in a blood sample, serum or plasma a subject suffering from heart failure and b1) calculating a ratio of PlGF and the amount of sFlt-1 (or vice versa) and comparing the calculated ratio reference relationship, whereby a subject is eligible identifies for the administration of the aldosterone antagonist or b2) comparing the amounts determined in step a) with reference amounts, whereby a subject is eligible for the administration of the aldosterone antagonist is identified.
