BIOINFORMATICS and Research Opportunities

We present a survey of bioinformatics, first focusing on preclinical research applications where much progress has been made in the last two decades or so. Then we examine clinical applications where there is much excitement about the potential, such as, clinical genotyping, early diagnosis, prognostic disease models, personalized medicine and wellness monitoring. The selection of topics largely reflects our optimism that this potential will begin to be realized in the near future.
