Radiocytogenetic studies with Californium-252

SummaryChromosomal analysis of Chinese-hamster ovary cells was conducted after irradiation with either radium or 252Cf. Irradiations were performed at two different dose-rates with each radiation source and under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. The o.e.r. was approximately 2·3 for radium and 1·8 for 252Cf and was independent of dose-rate. The r.b.e. of 252Cf compared with radium ranged from 1·7 to 4·3 depending on radiation conditions.
