Performance Evaluation of Reduced-Power ABS and Zero-Power ABS Time Domain Interference Mitigation Technique in Femto-Macro Heterogeneous Network

2019
Femtocells deployment has become a new paradigm in improving the mobile network’s services for indoor users, by providing better data rates and coverage. Femtocells deployment results to a heterogeneous network that requires two layers of utilization of the available radio resources and this leads to interference. Despite the improvements brought about by the zero-power ABS time domain technique, it suffers reduced throughput of femtocell users in a femto-macro heterogeneous network. A method used in this research to address this limitation was the reduced-power ABS time domain technique that mitigated interference. A comparison was made between the two schemes and it was found that the reduced-power ABS scheme provided higher throughput to femtocell users when muting ratios of 0, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.8 were used. The results obtained achieved optimal and fair overall performance. This research centered on communication in the downlink direction only .
