Numerical analysis of the diffusion effects of combustible gas leak on the leak location

2017
Abstract In this paper, using the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equation and the turbulence modelling with the correction of buoyancy effects, we get the diffusion characteristics of different positions after the leakage and analyze the results under the influence of wind speed and the component transport model, which base on numerical calculation of flammable gas’s leakage and diffusion at different positions indoor. The results show that different hazardous areas are formed after the gas leaked out and diffused at different locations. The higher position indoor, the smaller explosive areas are formed without wind influence outside when leaking hole and exit are in opposite side; meanwhile the closer the leakage hole located in exit downwind side, the higher wind speed and the faster the gas diffused, the less hazardous area are formed. This paper plays an important role in interior design of gas piping systems.
