Video decoding method and device

The embodiment of the application provides a video decoding method and device. In some examples, an apparatus includes a processing circuit. The processing circuit decodes prediction information for a current block from an encoded video stream. The current block is a non-square block, and the prediction information of the current block indicates a first intra prediction mode in a first set of intra prediction modes for the non-square block. The first set of intra-prediction modes includes a certain number of intra-prediction additional modes that do not belong to the second set of intra-prediction modes for the square block and that do not include a certain number of lost intra-prediction modes that belong to the second set of intra-prediction modes and that are associated with a function of an aspect ratio of the current block. The processing circuitry then reconstructs at least one sample of the current block according to the first intra prediction mode.
