Intelligent Gateway for Data-Centric Communication in Internet of Things

Extending a wireless sensor network to the Internet of Things poses a plethora of challenges. One of the major causes is that these networks have been designed as a resource constrained network while Internet of Things require delivering a variety of services to the end users irrespective of their geolocation. This paper proposes an intelligent gateway to facilitate data-driven communication in a resource constraint networks so as to enable the extension of resource constraint sensor/actuator networks to the Internet of Things. The proposed solution allows for multiple levels of Quality of Service in low end devices without extra infrastructural changes. Results obtained show that the proposed solution is feasible in real-time scenarios and is capable of handling multiple types of data simultaneously.
