Numerical Dispersion Reduction in the Parabolic Wave Equation

The parabolic wave equation has long been used as an approximation of the scalar Helmholtz equation to model wave propagation in lossy and lossless media. Previous research has utilized spatial domain conversion methods to propagate the waveform through lossy medium [1]. The application and purpose in this research effort is to study amplitude and phase scintillation induced by ionospheric striations on a traversing electromagnetic wave using derivative approximation methods.
