Fluorescence Imaging for Visualizing the Bioactive Molecules of Lipid Peroxidation within Biological Systems

2021
Abstract Lipid peroxidation is accompanied with producing series of bioactive molecules, including lipid radicals, lipid peroxyl radicals, lipid hydroperoxide and some reactive carbonyl species. These highly bioactive molecules play vital roles in cell biology. For clarifying the biological mechanisms and physio-pathological functions of these molecules, exploitation of accurate detection methods is essential. As fluorescence imaging technique own extraordinary capacity for tracking bio-species in living systems, developing fluorescence imaging tools for these bioactive molecules has become one convictive direction. Numbers of relevant papers have emerged in decades while lacking systematically review so far. To afford some serviceable guidance for future research in lipid peroxidation, we generalize the construction strategies and biological imaging applications of the fluorescence tools for the related bioactive molecules according to the produced order, which will spark new ideas and future applications in lipid peroxidation.
