Effects of grain gradation in the system of gel-casting zirconia ceramic

Objective:To study the effects of grain gradation on the shrinkage of green body before and after heating in the system of gel-casting zirconia ceramic,the best pre-heating temperature were also evaluated.Method:Samples were divided into 3 groups according to grain composition:nanometer group H1(26n m);submicron group H2(300 nm);mixed group H3(1 μm+300 nm+26 nm).Solid content and linear shrinkage were measured.Result: The solid content of H1,H2,H3 were 60.11 wt%,81.58 wt%,82.36 wt%;the shrinkage of green body were 0.87 %,0.26 %,0.29 %,densification shrinkage were 26.1 %,23.1 %,22.4 %.Conclusion:The fixed group shows higher solid content and lower shrinkage.The heating program was also evaluated.
