Venous thrombosis in patients with heart failure and relative predictors

2011
Objective To investigate incidence of the deep vein thrombosis(DVT) in patients with heart failure and relative prediction factors. Methods 473 patients with heart failure were enrolled. The relative epidemiological and clinical informations(including medical treatment, the level of cardiac function, heart and vein ultrasound information) were collected. Results 27 patients(5.7%) were diagnosed as deep vein thrombosis. There were differences of incidence of DVT among patients with different cardiac function level(NYHA cardiac function classification): 3.4% in patients with class Ⅱ patients,4.6% in class Ⅲ and 14.9% in class Ⅳ(P0.01).Multivariate logistic regression analysis suggested that anticoagulant therapy(OR 3.35,95% CI:1.12-6.84),NYHA class IV(OR 4.43,95% CI: 1.80-8.27) and inadequate collapsibility of the inferior vena cava(OR 3.81,95% CI: 0.96-5.40) may be independent predictors of DVT.Conclusion There is increased risk of deep vein thrombosis in CHF patients.Severe cardiac dysfunction, poor anticoagulant therapy and inadequate collapsibility of the inferior vena cava may be independently associated with high incidence of DVT in CHF patients.
