Effects of ultra-intense laser driven proton beam on the hydriding property of palladium
2013
Abstract We investigated the effect of ion irradiation using an ultra-intense laser driven proton beam (UILDPB) method, by which proton beams with energy spectra can be created, on the hydrogen absorption rate of palladium (Pd). The Pd samples were irradiated with proton beams with the maximum energy of 2 MeV and 4 MeV at room temperature. The initial hydrogen absorption rate of Pd was measured before and after proton irradiation. The improvement of the initial hydrogen absorption by the UILDPB irradiation was confirmed.
