Copper-catalyzed enantioselective desymmetrization of prochiral tetrasubstituted siladiols: Access toward optically active silicon-stereogenic silylmethanols

Abstract A copper/pyridinebisoxazoline-catalyzed desymmetrization of prochiral 2-sila-1,3-propanediols with benzoyl chlorides has been described. The catalytic system allowed the construction of optically active silymethanol derivatives containing a quaternary siliconstereogenic center in good to high yields and moderate to good enantiomeric excesses.
