Chemical bonding in amorphous semiconductors

Abstract The nature of the chemical nond in tetrahedrally bonded amorphous semiconductors is shown to suffer spatial variations due to fluctuations in the spatial environment, in accordance with the views expressed by S.R. Ovshinsky. It is also shown that the addition of H and F to a-Si has effects similar to that of glass modifiers in silicate glasses.
