Mostoftheliterature onpenetrating woundsof theheartisconcerned withthediagnosis and management ofacute cardiac tamponade, butvery scantattention seemstohavebeenpaidtoits sequelae andcomplications. Cardiac aneurysm is nowincreasingly being recognized asacomplicationfollowing accidental wounds, incisions into theheart forintroducing instruments, andopenheart correction ofcertain cardiac defects. Inthiscommunication a report ofa caseof traumatic ventricular aneurysmfollowing accidental incision intotheleft ventricle ispresented, because oftheunusual circumstances thatled toitsproduction anditsmodeofpresentation.
