Ribulose-1,5-Bisphosphate Carboxylase Protein in Higher Plants by a New Rapid HPLC Method

In the context of a study on the relationships between biochemical and biophysical parameters of photosynthesis of the leaf we needed a rapid and sensitive method for quantification of RuBPCase protein. The methods hitherto described all appear time consuming and most are multistep processes. Here we suggest a new fast method of determination of RuBPCase by Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography (HI-HPLC) which allows the quantitative determination of this enzyme without apparently affecting its specific activity.
