Cytogenetic studies in women with primary amenorrhea

1990
Over a 10-year period 106 women with primary amenorrhea were subjected to clinical cytological examinations. On the basis of X chromatin determination they were divided into 2 groups. Within the X chromatin negative group the Y chromatin positive and Y chromatin negative cases were differentiated using fluorescent optic methods. Diagnosis according to chromosome analysis was made. A clinical picture of these patients was made on the basis of clinical and cytogenetic studies. 50% of the cases showed chromosomal abnormalities in comparison to figures of 20-25% for other reported studies. Cytogenetic studies are considered essential for gynecological endocrinological diagnostics.(AUTHORS MODIFIED)
