The article studies the role of British TV series, treated as precedent texts of English culture, using such notions of psychology and cognitive science as container, containment and the contained. The article expresses an opinion that films, being mediator containers, fulfil the function of containment for the viewer by forming schematic representations of historical epochs, events and personalities.
