On preparation of noble metal-rare earth compounds and their performance as a complex catalyst

The present paper aims at introducing the authors' method of preparing noble metal-rare earth and analyzing its performance as a complex catalyst which can be used for purifying vehicle emission. The catalyst we have prepared shows good conversion efficiency of HC and CO, which can satisfy the expected heat endurance ability. The emission test shows that the motorcycles which have adopted the given catalyst can meet Euro Ⅱ emission standard. Moreover, as a new kind of complex catalyst, when coated on the metallic honeycomb substrate, helps to improve the function of the vehicle's exhaust emission converter in several motorcycles. Since nearly all the motorcycle exhaust emission converters used in China are imported from abroad, the catalyst developed in this paper has relatively lower cost and displays quite a satisfactory utilization properties.
