THE SPECIFIC HEAT OF (LA1.85SR0.15)CUO4: EVIDENCE FOR D-WAVE PAIRING

Abstract The specific heat ( C ) of two samples of (La 1.85 Sr 0.15 )CuO 4 (LSCO) was measured for 1 T H ) to 9 T. For both samples the concentrations of paramagnetic centers were relatively low. This facilitated the unambiguous identification of the terms in the electron density of states (DOS) contribution to C (C DOS ) that are expected for d-wave pairing: T 2 for H=0; H 1/2 T for H >0.
