Analysis on Sensor Dynamic Characteristics in Flight Control System

In the field of flight control, the dynamic characteristics of the sensor are often ignored and replaced by unity gain in the feedback loop. As an important part of the flight control system, the dynamic characteristics of the sensor are directly related to the performance of the flight control system, which further affects the flight quality of the aircraft. In this paper, we select the representative vertical gyroscope as our research subject. Through mathematical modeling, the dynamic characteristics of the gyro are expressed in the transfer function form which can be simplified to a second-order oscillation element. After the control law design, we introduce the gyro into the feedback loop of the attitude control system and observe the response of the system in the frequency domain by changing the natural frequency and inherent damping of the sensor separately. Lastly, we make an analysis on the simulation results and draw a conclusion of the influence of the sensor’s dynamic characteristics on the flight control system.
