Fluorous gels of a fluorous alcohol using a low molecular weight anthracene organogelator

Abstract A fluorous gel was prepared using 2,3-di-n-decyloxyanthracene (DDOA), a low-molecular mass gelator (LMMG) for alcohols, and 2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7-dodecafluoro-1-heptanol. The fluorous gel is thermoreversible and its melting temperature can be adjusted by changing the concentration of DDOA. Interestingly, a reduction of the critical concentration of gelation and a tuning of the melting temperature around 37 °C can be achieved by adding the non-gelling analogue 2,3-dimethoxyanthracene (DMOA) to DDOA.
