A Biblioteca e a construção do trabalho educativo na escola

2020
The paper discusses the contribution of the school library in educational work, based on the understanding of the German philosopher Theodor W. Adorno that education has as its ultimate goal the refusal of barbarism. For that, it takes the concept of educational work of the critical-historical pedagogy and the school library conception of Alvarez and Castrillon (2013) to discuss different conceptions of school library, with emphasis on the formation of bibliographic collections. It concludes that although there are advances in the area, there are still gaps, especially regarding the theoretical and practical distances between education and librarianship, and that the school library can contribute to the expansion of the cultural capital of students and teachers.
