The invention discloses a preparation method of a kaolin geopolymer-based regenerated EPS (Expandable Polystyrene) insulating material of an exterior wall of a building. The insulating material mainly comprises a kaolin geopolymer cementing material and a regenerated EPS nuclear shell master batch. The preparation method comprises the following steps: 1) preparing metakaolin by sintering kaolin at a high temperature; 2) preparing the regenerated EPS nuclear shell master batch; 3) preparing an alkali-activator; 4) preparing the insulating material. As conventional cement is replaced by the geopolymer cementing material and waste polystyrene foam plastic is taken as an insulating main body, the kaolin geopolymer-based regenerated EPS insulating material of the exterior wall of the building provided by the invention has the advantages of low cost, environment-friendly production process and the like.
