CASE REPORT: Fulminant Hepatic Failure Associated with Triazolam

2002
Triazolam (Halcion; Pharmacia-Upjohn, Tokyo, Japan) is a benzodiazepine hypotonic, used widely in Japan for treatment of insomnia. Hepatotoxicity identified as cholestasis is rare in triazolam-treated patients (1, 2). Although there is a low incidence of idiosyncratic hepatic injury associated with use of triazolam, we experienced a case of fulminant hepatic failure associated with this agent, which we report here.
