Пресуппозиционный анализ семантически неполных высказываний в англоязычном дискурсе

2010
The article deals with semantically incomplete utterances that are not understandable for the listener and bring about communication mishaps. The causes of the anomalous interpretation of such utterances are analyzed in the light of the theory of presupposition. An utterance is considered to be semantically incomplete if its basic semantic components are not verbalized at all or are verbalized with the help of deictic or anaphoric elements. The analysis shows that in most cases misunderstanding is brought about by the loss or modification of existential and pragmatic presuppositions of the speaker. The research data were obtained from dialogues in books by modern British and American authors.
