Calorigenic response to noradrenaline following 6-hydroxydopamine treatment.

Abstract Treatment of rats with 6-hydroxydopamine increased the calorigenic response to noradrenaline (NA). This was evident when NA was infused at rates which is untreated animals produced submaximal responses. The increased response was particularly evident in cold-acclimated rats and likely reflects a lack of uptake of the NA by adrenergic nerve terminals damaged by the drug.
