Effect of therapy with fusinopril on coronary flow reserve in patient with syndrome X

2003
Objective:To evaluate the effect of therapy with fusinopril on coronary flow reserve in patient with syndrome X. Methods: 26 patients with syndrome X were studied. The systolic blood pressure (SBP) , diastolic blood pressure (DBP), total cholesterol(TC), low density lipid cholesterol(LDL-C), triglyceride (TG) , endothelin-1(ET-1) , the based flow velocities (bFV) . the maximal coronary flow velocities (mFV) after infusion of dipyridamole and coronary flow reserve (CFR= mFV/bFV) after therapy with fusinopril were compared with those before therapy. Results: After therapy with fusinopril in syndrome X group, the levels of SBP, DBP, TC, LDL-C and TG were slightly reduced (P0. 05), and the concentrations of ET-1 were decreased [(103. 5 ± 9. 7)pg/ml vs (77. 5± 12. 0)pg/ml, P0. 05]; the bFV were not changed significantly (P 0. 05)( while after infusion of dipyridamole, the mFV were increased from (57. 2 ± 8. 4)cm/s to (72. 1 ± 7. 6)cm/s(P0. 05) and CFR increased from 2. 52 ± 0. 56 to 3. 32 ± 0. 44(P0. 01). Conclusions: Therapy with fusinopril can greatly improve the endothelium function and CFR in patient with syndrome X.
