Ionization constants of dinitromethyl sulfides and dinitromethylsulfones

1974
1. The ionization constants (in water, at 20°) of a number of dinitromethyl sulfides and dinitromethylsulfones were determined by a spectrophotometric method. 2. In the transition from sulfides to sulfones of analogous structure, as well as with increasing electron acceptor properties of the substituent at the sulfur atom, the acidity increases. 3. Electronic and steric factors influence the acidity of the compounds studied.
