Study on Introduction, Acclimatization and Shade-tolerance of Woody Wild Ornamental Plants

2010
Ten kinds of wild woody plants with high ornamental value were introduced and cultivated after investigation of endemic plants in Wuhan area. The ornamental traits and phenology were observed. Moreover, the shade-tolerance and chlorophyll content was detected. The results showed that Callicarpa bodinieri Purplepearl and Eusecaphis japonica (Thunb.) Dippel had beautiful appearance in fruits; Camellia rosthorniana Hand.-Mazz. and Daphne genkwa Sieb. et Zucc.in floral parts; Acer ginnala Maxim. and Lindera aggregate (Sims) Kosterm in foliage; Viburnum dilatatum Thunb. and Viburnum betulifolium Betal. in all of those. L. aggregate had high shade-tolerance whereas C. bodinieri, D. genkwa and A. ginnala had low shade-tolerance.
