석곡(Dendrobium moniliforme) 캘러스 추출물의 피부 효능에 관한 연구

Plant stem cells have been applied on the various industrial fields. In particular, demands for the cosmetic application of plant cells have been increased in worldwide. Dendrobium moniliforme, a sort of orchid plants grown in Jeju Island and East Asia, is one of the widely used plants in the cosmetic industry for its high efficacy. In this study, plant callus was induced from Dendrobium moniliforme and cultured for a mass production. Then, the callus extract was obtained by hot water. It was confirmed that the callus extract inhibited the expression level of COX-2, an inflammatory marker, and enhanced the expression level of aquaporin3 (AQP3), a skin hydration modulator. Furthermore, the callus extract showed wound healing effect through the promotion of skin cell migration. In conclusion, Dendrobium moniliforme callus extract is a promising candidate for an anti-aging active ingredient.
