1-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-1-yl)-2-((1-aryl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl) methoxy)ethanones: Synthesis, characterization, and antimicrobial activity

1-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-1-yl)-2-((1-aryl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methoxy)ethanones(4a–h) were synthesized by the reaction of 1-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-1-yl)-2-(prop-2-yn-1-yloxy)ethanone (3) with arylazides in presence of Copper catalyst. The alkyne (3) was prepared by the 1-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-1-yl)-2-chloroethanone (2) and propargyl alcohol. All the synthesized compounds were confirmed by spectral and elemental analysis data. Furthermore, the synthesized compounds were screened for their in vitro antimicrobial activity. Among the newly synthesized compounds 4b, 4d, 4e and 4f showed the excellent antibacterial activity and as well as 4d and 4f showed the moderate antifungal activity when compared to standard drugs. Our data indicate that these derivatives may present promising antimicrobial agents
