Isolation and characterization of microsatellite loci in the xishishe clam Coelomactra antiquata (Bivalvia: Veneroida)

2008
The xishishe clam Coelomactra antiquata is a commercially important bivalve species, but has been suffering from severe population decline due to over-exploitation and the deterioration of environmental conditions. To investigate the genetic variation and structures of this clam, nine polymorphic microsatellites were developed. The number of alleles ranged from two to 28 per locus with the observed heterozygosity ranging from 0.083 to 0.921. This set of microsatellites will be useful for the study of the genetic structures of C. antiquata.
