The infection status of human papillomavirus in patients with laryngeal carcinoma

2018
Objective: To investigate the infection status of human papillomavirus( HPV) in patients with laryngeal carcinoma. Methods: Forty primary laryngeal carcinoma patients were enrolled, all of whom came from Guangdong Province. The HPV DNA expression was detected using Digene HC2 HPV DNA test( Qiagen) following the manufacturer’s protocol. Results: None of the DNA sample showed greater HPV DNA level compared with the positive control, suggesting all the included laryngeal carcinoma cases were HPV negative. Conclusion: Clinical HPV infection rate of laryngeal carcinoma was low. Further studies on proving that HPV is not the major risk factor for laryngeal malignancies are warrant.
