A method of removing carbon dioxide from gases

2002
The invention relates to the removal of CO2 from CO2 containing gas such as a combustion gas. For example, there is a process for removal of CO2 from a combustion gas in that this is contacted at atmospheric pressure with an aqueous solution of an amine of general formula R '^ HC (CH3) 2CH2OH where R1 is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or an aqueous solution indoor containing both an amine of general formula R2CHR3NHCH2CH2OH wherein R2 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms and R2 is hydrogen or methyl group and a piperazine compound selected from the group consisting of piperazine, 2-methylpiperazine , 2,3- dimethylpiperazine and 2,5-dimethylpiperazine, or an mixed aqueous amine solution containing a secondary amine and a tertiary amine, each with concentrations ranging from 10 to 45% by weight, or with a solution of a piperazine derivative.
